Database Documentation and Alter Script for PostgreSQL & MySQL
At SqlDBM, one of our core beliefs that we really strive to infuse into everything we do, is to truly listen to our users’ requests and feedback. A significant percentage of our users expressed that they would want the ability to manage Database Documentation process and have Alter Script functionality for PostgreSQL and MySQL Server in SqlDBM. We listened and actualized that.
The SqlDBM team is proud to announce the release of SqlDBM v.2.10 based on our roadmap/feedback.
SqlDBM now provides the database documentation functionality that helps to gather, document and share knowledge of your databases. Also, this feature allows to export documentation in Excel format and share with your team.
This is very important to ensure that your database can be easily kept up-to-date with your ever-evolving data model. Document database you are developing so that every developer, tester, DBA or business user is on the same page with the changes you implement for your project. Understanding data in reporting, data warehousing or BI is critical-while implementing Snowflake or Redshift projects, wrong assumptions about data structure and data definitions lead to errors in metrics and reports which may lead to wrong business decisions. BI and DW developers and architects spend a lot of time on getting data quality and data governance done correctly to be able to deliver bug-free solutions to the end users.
With SqlDBM’s new DB Documentation feature you can do the following to deliver the best possible software:
- Track progress of documenting your Database and Data Warehouse
- Gather, document and share knowledge of your databases
- Better communication between business, IT and all participants
- Avoid guesswork and errors in reporting
- Enable better use of your data throughout the enterprise
- Less dependence on your current development teams
- Easier developer onboarding and replacements
Generate Alter SQL Script for PostreSQL & MySQL
SqlDBM now provides the Alter Script functionality for PostreSQL and MySQL as well, that helps incorporate the changes to the already existing Database/Data Warehouse design to fully complete development lifecycle. This is vital to ensure that your project can be easily kept up-to-date with your ever-evolving data model.
- Generate Alter Script to modify objects in existing DB/DW
- Select between SqlDBM revisions to apply Alter Script
Following are screenshots on how “Generate Alter SQL” feature can be used and how the output looks like:
This isn’t all we’ve done, we’ve also made a few minor tweaks to improve the overall experience with SqlDBM.
